INTERPOL EM LISBOA

For the second time in Lisbon, Interpol gave a show to full-house and the audience had no complaints!

Known for their frivolous and serious behaviour, this New York band composed of Paul Banks and his deep cadaverous voice; the non-stop freaky dancer guitarist David Kessler; eccentric Carlos D on the bass and Sam Fogatino on the drums played in Coliseu dos Recreios on November 7th for a completely mad crowd.
When the first notes of “Pioneer to the Falls” resounded screams and euphoria made way to what would be a fantastic music night: the show was on. Several songs were played and gave way to others, such as the acclaimed “Slow Hands”, the new single “Heirich Maneuver” and “Evil” in unison grabbed a smile out of Paul’s cold face and some “Obrigados” too which made everyone who was there went crazy.
The environment was full of a million strange hot-cold feelings caused of course by their performance but also by a mixture of colourful lights. The red, white, purple, blue and gold reflexions behind the songs gave to each one them different kinds of emotions and feelings that were immediately absorbed by the audience. The whole crowd was caught up by those surrounding creepy moments and when Interpol announced their first departure the room started screaming anxiously for their return. Soon “Take you on a Cruise” and other two songs gave shape to a great encore. With happiness Interpol said goodbye and thanked all the fans, some of who refused to leave the room without a souvenir!
All that is left now for the fans are memories of a great night and maybe waiting for a third visit to our country. The quartet had already played in Portugal in the festival Superbock Superrock, and is now promoting the third album Our Love To Admire, which has as very successful precedents Turn Out The Bright Lights and Antics.
Often compared to Joy Division because the voices of both vocalists (Paul Banks and Ian Curtis) are said to be similar, Interpol with their very own indie style will keep spreading music and manners that certainly will not disappoint.
